“TEC” Archived
ADDENDUM:
I HAVE OPENED MY NEW BLOG @: http://growrag.wordpress.com Mirifica Commutatio . I HAVE AN OPENING POST UP OVER THERE ALREADY, IT IS ON PRAYER. I HOPE YOU ALL FOLLOW ME OVER THERE, AND UPDATE YOUR BLOGROLLS AND RSS FEEDS! Actually, I have just moved ‘The Evangelical Calvinist” over to this new url. See you there.
I know I have done this before, but I am serious this time
. Many other bloggers at the moment (in the sphere within which I travel) have taken this season to “archive” their blogs, and move onto other endeavors; it seems like the season to do such things — and now an opportunity for me to “archive” The Evangelical Calvinist. This has been a good place for me to get me thoughts out on this stuff, and has aided in the production of our yet forthcoming book on Evangelical Calvinism. But my interests are expanding, and since this blog, by and large, has been dedicated as a “topical” blog (dealing with issues surrounding Calvinism, etc.); and insofar as my research interests are expanding, it is time to put this blog (as far as my activity) to sleep. I won’t delete this blog, instead I will “archive” it, and it will become a “place-holder” and a continued on-line presence for Evangelical Calvinism. Once our book is published, I will most likely write an update post here wherein the book will have an on-line advertisement, and exposure. Thank you all, you kind readers for spending some of your time with me here.
I will be setting up a new blog, maybe later today (I’ll never, probably not be blogging somewhere). Once it is all set up, I will attach an addendum to this post with a new url so you all can find me (if you want). My motivation, at least here, for blogging, is somewhat on the wane. Nevertheless, the new forthcoming blog should help spark my interests and motivations for blogging once again. I intend on writing a lot more on issues surrounding biblical studies, the ontology of scripture, and hermeneutics. These are interests of mine, and have been for many many years. I am going to try and incorporate a lot more of my areas of formal training into my forthcoming blog; which means writing in the area of hermeneutics and Historical Theology. Stay tuned for the addendum to this blog, and the new url for my new blog; I am still trying to conceive of what it will be called, and who will be hosting it (either WordPress or Blogger, probably the latter).
pax.

I look forward to following you on your new endeavor! God bless.
Sorry to hear about this. I was hoping to continue reading and dialoguing about Torrance and related themes.
Will you close comments on all the existing posts?
Why blogger vs WordPress?
The new themes sound good, looking forward to your new efforts.
Wouldn’t having this blog up and running also be a help for you as you work through your PHD studies. You could post and engage in the vicarious role of Christ on this blog as you study that in depth. Just a thought.
@William,
Thank you, brother
!
@Jon,
I don’t plan on not talking about TFT and his stuff at whatever new venue I’m at; I still like Torrance, but I plan on expanding my reading — and actually getting back into some “Bib Studies” stuff; as well as historical theology.
I will be placing posts here on moderation, but I don’t really plan on interacting at this blog in the future. Plus, all posts here go onto comments off after 14 days anyway
. I’m not sure if blogger and not WP yet. I might do blogger just to be different, since it seems everyone is doing WP nowadays
.
As far as my PhD studies, I’m not sure that is ever going to happen. I need funding, and I’m really not willing to go into more student loan debt (I already have plenty of that from undergrad/grad and my wife’s undergrad loans too). My new blog will be expansive enough, though, to accommodate stuff on TFT. I’m really considering switching my topic of research to something having to do with a doctrine of Scripture (inclusive of TFT’s thinking); if I ever get to actually do a PhD. My first priority at the moment is to find employment.
There is a reason, though, Jon, that I want to do this with this blog. I’m somewhat afraid that this blog may polarize than I want. I’m also afraid that by constantly quoting TFT on various things; that de facto, all of his theology becomes appropriated under the guise of Evangelical Calvinism. I want to make sure that folks understand that Evangelical Calvinism is not code for being a Torrancean; because it’s not. Anyway, I think I’m somewhat tired of being the poster boy for Evangelical Calvinism on-line. I don’t have any problem whatsoever being part of this with Myk Habets, and introducing folks to this kind of thinking within Calvinist/Scottish history, but I also would prefer to be a little more “free” than constantly being known as “The Evangelical Calvinist” seems to let on; if that makes sense. This will be a good place and resource, I think, for anyone who buys our book and googles Evangelical Calvinism. They’ll be able to scroll through all the posts, and see all the dialogue that ensued from the various posts. Anyway, I just sense this blog is somewhat played out; and I’d like to do something a little different in the blogosphere. I’ll still be me wherever I blog though
.
I’m looking forward to read your new blog. I hope, however, that it will contain lots of TFT-stuff. That was for me one of the reasons for a frequent visit of this blog. And concerning your PhD-project: keep studying anyway. It will reward one day…
Hey Arlen,
I will still be reading my TFT
. And I hope to be doing that PhD still; Lord willing! I’ll always be a reader/student; that’s just who I am
. Thanks for the encouragement!
Bobby, thanks for sharing your thoughts in more detail. I fully understand those sentiments. I haven’t yet found a name for my forthcoming blog, but I have decided not to name it in such a way that it ties me in to one particular focus or stream of thought too narrowly. I am too eclectic for that.
Looking forward to whatever you come up with.
Jon,
That sounds like a good idea on the blog name. Let me know when you open it up, I look forward to reading more of your thoughts, brother!
